Solution: You will need a keyboard wedge. The keyboard wedge converts the scanner RS-232 output into Keyboard data. There are two types of keyboard wedges: software wedge and hardware wedge. The software wedge is a computer program that will accept RS-232 data from the serial port and convert the data, then put it in the keyboard buffer. The hardware wedge daisy chains with the keyboard into the keyboard port. The hardware wedge will accept RS-232 on one side, then convert to keyboard data which is then sent to the keyboard port.
